Bus Shelter : Draycott Road Tonight we had the usual kids in the shelter , shouting , drinking alcohol, the usual round of cars hooting, and had to witness a couple of them urinating in the street. There was about 30 tonight on and off, and it will get worse now the evenings are drawing in, usually it is 10 to 15 after the 16.00 shift have been for a drink. To say nothing of the discarded papers and cans left around, which of course is left to us locals to clean up. The Police haven't got the time to call by , and Erewash have informed us it is a DCC shelter, and they do not have any powers to force the issue. I propose we should campaign for all shelters to be fitted with sides in Borrowash so that you can experience the problems that we have, and get no response or support. How would you like to have a load of kids hanging around the front of your house, shouting and keeping your children from sleeping? Why does it have to be us that are singled out to have a nice warm shelter with sides and a front on to hang around in?and on the odd occasion sleep in (no intention of catching a bus). It's only been there 18 months but it sure makes a difference. I will be campaigning to get my Council Tax reduced as apart from the street lights we seem to be doing all the work to keep the neighbourhood clean and tidy, whilst the public bodies are insouciant. What impression would you have of the area if you were coming into Borrowash from this side? Seeing this how would you feel? Having spoken to a neighbour across the road who has raised this issue with the local council several times it would seem they are not in the least bit intereseted either. Looks like the bus stop sides and front are here to stay but hey 8k would be a peice woth paying for some evening peace.
Proposed on way system in the village; you will see on the Parish Council notice board next to the village there is a proposal to introduce a one way system in the bottom of the village around Bare Land, Flood Street and Church Street. Examination of the plans show them to be disruptive and impractical. Comments are requested by 10th August.
